Numerical Quantification Model and Experiment of External Force on Roller Hemming of Curved Edge Aluminium Alloy with Adhesive

Abstract Accurate quantification of external force is the key to improve high-precision hemming autobody closure panels. However, mechanism on forming quality complex contour sheet metal with adhesive not clear subjected geometric curvature and materials. In present study, taking curved edge aluminum as research object, SPH (smooth particle hydrodynamics) introduced simulate viscous adhesive, SPH-FEM (Finite element method) coupling model panels considering viscosity-pressure effect established. The numerical simulation roller process carried out, then validity reliability proposed method are verified by measuring in real time using triaxial sensor. multi-step roll in/out, surface wave plastic strain alloy under studied, relationship between parameters discussed. Results show that can well reflect structure. normal about 2–3 times tangential pre final process.
